Mental Health Solutions From the Root.

The Stand is a community-focused mental health and wellness organization, offering transformative therapeutic services, empowering workshops, wellness retreats, and healing centered events designed to support resilience, joy, and cultural connection.

Our approach

As a licensed master’s level social worker, founder Khiarah Craig leads The Stand with a commitment to radical grace, imagination, and collective joy. We don’t just offer services- we create spaces for transformation. From trauma-informed therapy and culturally rooted workshops to community partnerships, every offering is designed to center the lived experiences of those we serve and meet people where they are. Our approach is rooted in accessibility, collective healing, and the belief that joy and resilience thrive in community.

Beyond Coping: Unlearning & Evolving

At The Stand, we believe healing isn’t just about getting by- it’s about getting free. We help individuals, groups, and organizations move beyond survival mode by unlearning harmful patterns, unpacking internalized beliefs, and building new ways of thinking, relating, and leading.

In-person and remote options

The Stand offers in-person services only. For organizations, we can come to you, or if you’d like a change of scenery, we are located at 1428 Race Street, in OTR!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are You Currently Offering Therapy?

Yes! The Stand is currently offering therapy services under supervision. Sessions are facilitated by Khiarah Craig, MSW, LSW, practicing under the clinical supervision of La’Keyta Hoffman LPCC-S.

At this time, we are accepting private-pay clients at $130 per session. We are also in the process of credentialing with insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, Molina, and other Medicaid care plans. Once credentialing is complete, clients will be able to use those insurances to cover services.

Until then, private-pay is available, and we continue to offer community workshops, groups, and healing-centered events as additional forms of support. Ask about our sliding scale!

What Makes The Stand Different from Traditional Therapy or Consulting Firms?

At The Stand, we blend clinical expertise with cultural connection. Our events and services feel familiar, not clinical-especially for Black and Brown folks who often feel alienated in traditional spaces. Clients trust both my training and my lived experiences. We center joy, trust, and accessibility without compromising quality.

What Kind of Organizational Consulting Do You Offer?

The Stand partners with schools, nonprofits, and small to mid-sized organizations to provide wellness and training solutions. Our consulting includes:

  • Workshops & retreats on mental health, stress management, and team resilience

  • Curriculum and resource development tailored to your staff or clients

  • EAP-style support for organizations seeking a culturally grounded alternative to traditional Employee Assistance Programs

  • Speaking engagements and staff trainings on mental health, healing-centered practices, and equity in care

Do You Only Work With Black Clients and Organizations?

No. While our services are designed with Black individuals and communities in mind—in the same way that many traditional services were designed with white clients in mind—The Stand is open to and welcoming of everyone. We believe all people benefit from culturally grounded, compassionate care that honors community and accountability.
